Can one judge the genre by its cover?

Genre is the classification of an artwork based on the work's style, subject matter, form, tone and so on. While poetry is one of the four main genres in literature along with drama, fiction and nonfiction, there are many genres in poetry, too, such as lyric, narrative, epic, prose poetry etc.

Homer's Odyssey and Iliad are examples of epic poems and so are Mahabharata and Ramayana
